Carmel (CA) car week 2023 Saturday

flying: 1st lesson Monterey

My first lesson of flying. Started from Monterey airport and flew over Carmel, then 180 and flew over Santa Cruz. Then back to landing in Monterey. I was on the commands almost all the time except for take-off and landing of course.

Crossing the bridge early May. Very windy and not that warm. Conzelman climb is a little hard but we have a breathtaking view: no pun intended after the climb..

The first calculator our family has was the Ti-30.
The real way to check if it's a scientific calculator is to do for example 3 + 4 x 5. If the result is 23, it's a scientific calculator. If the result is 35, it's a non-scientific calculator with a few advanced functions added.
Well, those calculators were mostly gadgets...Imagine doing your taxes on this watch . good luck
@@ftey2000Sure. But you have to remember that back i 1983 people didn't go around with a smartphone in their pocket, so having a calculator on your watch could come in handy in certain situations. And if the calculator was a scientific one, it certainly wouldn't hurt.
@@HGSolberg Yes, I know, I was in engineering school at that time, and had my trusty HP25. And for everyday calculation, pen and paper were still faster than typing on your watch, especially with my big fat fingers

It looks very much like a Friden EC-130 (and has similar capabilities), but the Friden wasn't using ICs and its case was far more crammed with parts. It also used magnetostrictive delay lines for memory, whereas the registers here are based on solid-state flip-flops.
I love it!! Reminds me of some star trek next gen type shit
yep, almost same period. Imagine living in the 70's and having one of those on your hand !!
What happens if you try to divide by zero?
It explodes.
i have one :-) im glad I find this so I can learn about it

Salut biker !
gran video
Thats an early 80s hp computer im guessing 1983. Thanks for sharing.
yep, one of the best. I do have a bunch of other ones but not time to make videos. Will try though
More like 1971-1972. They started to get cheap the next year.
I have this slide rule in very good condition, the box's inner velvet lining and everything are in a good state. Want to sell this if anyone is interested.
Hey. Can you tell me please how do you charge up the N60 with which type lead/output? I have one but completely dead. With original case & the original manual too.
I think I had the charger with mine, but I would need to search. for most of my calculators testing, I have an external DC power supply
I just acquired the monitor that went with the 9100a. Would you be interested in buying it ?
simple and great!
They were SOOO close to a simple portable computer. Adder is there; just missing addressing ability. (And a few bites more memory to go with it.)
Other desktop machines that existed at the time were entirely programmable, and were effectively personal computers (like the HP 9100 he mentioned). This was aimed at a different market segment, I think.
esay
I remember the Victor salesman bringing one of these to my Dad's company in 1969. We got to demo it for a week, very neat and futuristic, but as I recall, the price was around $1500, which my Dad said NO to! Was fun to play with, I wonder how many Victor sold.
Why did mobile phones go for touch screen straight away. The tech was there
Cuz the technology of touch screen was too expensive
The first successful touchscreen was made by Apple in 2007. The first IPHONE 📱
What a great channel
What is interesting for me is that machine is designed by stanly frankel a manhattan project veteran
Astonishing machine! I wrote my first professional software on one of these beasts in 1969, on the Australian Army's one at Warradale in South Australia. To calculate ballistic trajectories, corrected for Coriolis force, windage, spin, mass, rotational inertia, spin chirality, etc.

An interesting mechanical device

Nice explanation on how it works and how to work with it
Is everything well with this little machine? Sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders? The apparent no synchromesh on first may be due to a dragging clutch not clearing with the pedal fully down. I hope it is better now. I like these.
Yes, everything is going well. Clutch noise is normal for 1st gear ( no synchro). But the other clutch were my fault. Also, the engine had a big issue later on: valve seat moved. I had to change the cylinder head. But car is still alive. I will try to post a new video since I moved to a different place..
@@ftey2000 Yes non synchro first isn't unusual but with car stopped and the clutch depressed properly there should be no crunch when selecting 1st. Practiced drivers can select it on the move by double declutching and a blip of the throttle but that is a bit of an art. No synchro normal on reverse, does that crunch? Running on 3? The going to work video had the engine sounding OK. Surprised it had valve seat inserts back then in an iron head. Interesting. Still had the crunch back then. A trip out of town would be good? A drove a Dauphine a few times some years back and the gear change was like a knitting needle in a jar of jam. I suspect your 4CV is the same, being I think, the same GB.
@@delukxy ok thanks! I will practice more.. There is no age to learn
@@ftey2000 Apology needed from me. I have just noted that the engine does have an alloy head so the loose seat is validated. ruclips.net/video/BCsIhVciYIM/видео.html
